Editorial February 2012

We have started the year with a number of camp Theatresports activities with massive numbers especially the St Marys year 7 camp at their own venue at Metricup where we worked with 150 girls, my ears are still ringing. A very nice camp site with lovely facilities and food and now the grape vines are growing perhaps some nice cab sav next year. Next week we are off to the less salubrious bush camp with Penhros year 8s but I am sure it will be just as much fun. Camps are a great way to get back into the swing of things as a great deal of energy is required and a large number of activities.
We are taking a week off shortly to take a show to the Adelaide fringe again. This year our show is called Theatre to dine with,we have even learnt lines for this one (well in theory any way Ang is very unpredictable so most times you have to improvise to keep the scene going). We have a number of 5 minute plays we will perform to one table at a time in a restaurant. We hoping to go to a number of shows while we are there and get some ideas for future projects.
So last year was the last of the inter school competitions, the winners were
AITS Cup No one is better than than from St Pauls Catholic School
Jnr FOTS Cup 40 cents from St Stephens Duncraig
Snr FOTS Cup 3 1/2 lanks from St Stephens Duncraig
I think one of the problems with the interschool was the restriction of only having 4 students from each school so we are suggesting schools look at holding inter house competitions or just Theatresports for those interested. That way more students can get involved and the cost and time is more effective compared to a full theatre production. If you are interested in establishing a comp in your school feel free to contact us for a chat. Some schools have run competitions for over 10 years and create a great hype in the school community. St Stephens have been holding theirs for the past 2 years and took out both comps last year!!!
You will also notice that we are no longer holding the Theatresports for Teachers 2 day progamme. Again the numbers were dropping and thus were no longer feasible to hold, however we are still available for inhouse and district PD sessions and for teacher conferences etc so keep us in mind.
Have a great year, we certainly will with lots of new schools as well as all our favorites returning.
